Physical and chemical properties: 5-amino-isophenic acid is a white solid particle at room temperature and pressure. It has good solubility in dimethyl sulfoxide, poor solubility in low polar solvents such as n-hexane, cyclohexane, toluene and ether solvents, and is insoluble in water. Its molecular structure contains both acidic carboxyl groups and alkaline amino groups, so it is necessary to pay special attention to the pH of the reaction system during the preparation process.

Usage: 5-amino-isophthalic acid is a fine chemical product with a wide range of uses. It is insoluble in water but soluble in methanol, ethanol and acetone. It is mainly used as a medical intermediate and can be used to prepare non-ionic iodized X-ray contrast agents such as 5-hydroxypropiamine-2,4, 6-triiodoisopeptide-bis (1, 3-dihydroxy-isopropyl amide).

Synthesis method: At room temperature (27°C), 2.11G5-nitroisophthalic acid and Zn powder (0.9g,0.15mol) were dissolved in 20ml methanol and 4ml90% formic acid. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes, and the reaction progress was monitored by TLC point plate. After the reaction was completed, insoluble impurities were removed by filtration. Then the organic layer is evaporated, the residue is dissolved in chloroform, the organic layer is washed with saturated NaCl solution to remove ammonium formate, the organic layer is separated and evaporated, and the target product molecule 5-amino-isophenic acid can be obtained by recrystallization from hot methanol
