Chemical properties:

2, 4-dichlorobenzaldehyde is a white solid, m.p.69 ~ 73℃, b.p.233℃, insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether, ketone, acetic acid and benzene and other organic solvents.

Use:

1.2, 4-dichlorobenzaldehyde is an intermediate of fungicide enazolol.

2. As dye intermediate. Benzaldehyde-2, 4-disulfonic acid [88-39-1] can be prepared under the action of sodium bisulfite. Benzaldehyde-2, 4-disulfonic acid is A dye intermediate used for the synthesis of active deep blue K-FGR and acid lake blue A. Benzaldehyde-2, 4-disulfonic acid can also be prepared from toluene by sulfonation and oxidation. 2, 4-dichlorobenzaldehyde is also used in the synthesis of enazolol, which is a new type of pesticide to replace the powder rust.

Production method:

The preparation method is to hydrolyze 2, 4-dichlorobenzal dichloride obtained by side chain chlorination of 2, 4-dichlorobenzal toluene under light to obtain 2, 4-dichlorobenzaldehyde. 2, 4-dichlorotoluene and catalyst PCl3(the amount is about 1% of the mass of 2, 4-dichlorotoluene) are added to the chlorination reactor, heated to 120℃, and chlorine gas is added to the reaction under light conditions. When the conversion rate of 2, 4-dichlorotoluene is analyzed by GC, it is the end point of chlorination reaction, and chlorinated products are obtained. 4-dichlorochlorobenzyl 0.62%, 2, 4-dichlorobenzal 85.18Chemicalbook %, α, α, α-trichloro2, 4-dichlorotoluene 13.83%. The yield of 2, 4-dichlorobenzal dichloride was 87.1%. 2, 4-dichlorobenzal dichloride and catalyst metal oxide were added to the hydrolysis reactor, heated to 100℃, and appropriate amount of water was added to the hydrolysis reaction. After the reaction for about 3.5h, the conversion rate of 2, 4 dichlorobenzal dichloride was > 99%, and the water layer was separated after a few hours. The oil layer is washed with 10% NaCO and neutralized until alkaline, and the aldehyde and acid are separated by hydrolysis. The crude aldehyde is distilled to 2, 4-dichlorobenzaldehyde.
