Physical and chemical properties:
Triethyl orthoacetate is a colorless transparent or light yellow liquid at room temperature and pressure, with certain volatility, easily soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, benzene and other organic solvents, almost insoluble in water. Since triethyl acetate can form a flammable vapor mixture with air, and its vapor is heavier than air, and it is easy to gather in low-lying areas, it is necessary to pay attention to its fire and explosion-proof properties when using and storing.

Structural characteristics:
Triethyl acetate structure contains three ether bonds, and can be miscible with alcohol organic solvents, ether solvents, but insoluble in water. Due to the inertia of the ether bond, the chemical properties of the compound are relatively stable, and it is not easy to deteriorate under normal conditions. Triethyl orthoacetate is an ester compound that can react with some alcohols to form other esters. This is because the ester molecules contain ester bonds, their structure is stable, and transesterification reactions can occur.

Production method:
Triethyl orthoacetate and trimethyl orthoacetate are prepared in a similar way. Acetonitrile, toluene and anhydrous ethanol are pumped into a salt forming pot, cooled to -10 ~ -5℃, then injected into the measured dry hydrogen chloride and maintained at a salt forming temperature of -5 ~ 0℃. When the hydrogen chloride is finished, the reaction is carried out at 0℃ for 1h, and then held at 0 ~ 20℃ for 0.5h. The temperature is maintained at 20-25 ℃, and the reaction takes about 12h while stirring. The intermediate iminoether hydrochloride is gradually precipitated, cooled to 0-5 ℃, and then pre-cooled anhydrous ethanol and thymol blue indicator are added to accelerate the stirring. At the same time, ammonia gas is slowly added to the alcoholysis material for neutralization. When pH = 3.6, the ventilation is finished, and the alcoholysis reaction is carried out at 40℃ for about 8 ~ 9h. The material is cooled, and the ammonium chloride is removed by centrifuge filtration. The filtrate is pumped into the neutralizing pot, and 17% sodium ethanol ethanol solution is added to adjust the pH of the solution to 8 ~ 9. The alcoholysis substance is pumped into the distillation pot for atmospheric distillation, and the ethanol is recovered at 75℃. The solids of acetamide and sodium chloride were removed by cooling and filtration of the residual liquid, and then washed with 1% Na2CO3 solution, stratified, the oil layer was distilled under vacuum, and toluene was first steamed out, and then triethyl protoacetate was collected by distillation at 88 ~ 98℃/0.07MPa.
