Physical and chemical properties: 

Cuprous iodide (CuI), white cubic crystal or off-white powder, toxic. Relative density 5.62, melting point 605℃, boiling point 1290℃. Stable to light and air. Cuprous iodide is almost insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in liquid ammonia, dilute hydrochloric acid, potassium iodide, potassium cyanide or sodium thiosulfate solution, can be decomposed by concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid. Add excess potassium iodide to the acidic solution of copper sulfate or under agitation, add the mixed solution of potassium iodide and sodium thiosulfate to the copper sulfate solution, precipitate and precipitate to obtain cuprous iodide. In addition to general uses such as reagents, cuprous iodide is also used as a material for the production of conductive layers of electric thermal paper, medical disinfection, mechanical bearing temperature measurement agent, and is also used for trace analysis of mercury. Uses: 

1. Cuprous iodide (CuI) has a wide range of uses as organic synthesis catalysts, resin modifiers, cloud seeding agents, anode-ray tube coverings, and sources of iodine in iodized salt. In the presence of 1,2- or 1, 3-diamine ligands, cuprous iodide catalyzes the conversion of bromo-aromatics, bromo-heterocyclic compounds, and vinylbromide to the corresponding iodides. The reaction is generally carried out in a dioxane solvent with sodium iodide as the iodizing reagent. Aromatic iodides are generally more active than their corresponding chlorides and iodides. Therefore, cuprous iodide can catalyze a series of coupling reactions involving halogenated hydrocarbons, such as Heck reaction, Stille reaction, Suzuki reaction and Ullmann reaction. 2-bromo-1-octene-3-ol is coupled with 1-nonyne in the presence of dichloride (triphenylphosphine) combined with palladium (II), cuprous chloride and diethylamine to form 7-methylene-8-hexadecan-6-ol. 

2. Used as organic reaction catalyst, anode ray tube covering, also used as animal feed additives, etc. Cuprous iodide can also be used with mercury iodide as an indicator to measure the temperature rise of mechanical bearings. 

3. In many reactions involving Grignard reagent as a catalyst, cuprous iodide is also used in dry Wiff rearrangement reactions.
