Uses:

P-ethylphenylacetone is a drug intermediate for the preparation of eperisone hydrochloride for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Eperisone hydrochloride is a kind of central skeletal muscle relaxation agent with various pharmacological effects, which can improve the muscle tension of cervico-scapulobrachial syndrome, periarthritis of shoulder, lumbago, and relieve the spastic paralysis of cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spine disease, etc.

Preparation:

206kg anhydrous aluminum trichloride, 110kg ethylbenzene and 200kg dichloroethane were put into 500 reaction pans, cooled by jacking, and 110 tons of propionyl chloride were added under stirring to keep the internal temperature no more than 30℃. After heat preservation and reaction for 6h, the reaction liquid was dropped into a 2000L reaction pan containing 1 ton of ice water, hydrolyzed at low temperature, and then stratified at rest. The synthesis has been widely used in industrial preparation. If laboratory preparation is required, the reaction amount can be reduced on this basis for operation.
