Applications:

N-vinylcaprolactam or copolymers with other monomers are non-ionic, water-soluble, heat-sensitive and biosoluble, and these polymers contain hydrophilic carbonyl and amino groups, which are connected to hydrophobic carbon-carbon backbone through amino groups, and hydrolysis does not produce small molecular amino compounds that are harmful for biomedical applications.

Preparation:

caprolactam and potassium hydroxide were added proportionally in a four-way flask, vacuumed and heated to 140℃, and caprolactam potassium salt was prepared while dewatering. Caprolactam raw material, caprolactam potassium salt, polymerization inhibitor and cocatalyst crown ether were added to a four-port flask heated by electric jacket or a tower glass reactor (500mL) with a diameter of 50mm and a height of 300mm. The materials were stirred by magnetic stirrer combined with nitrogen gas flow. Nitrogen and acetylene mixture from the cylinder was measured by mass flowmeter. When the material is heated to the specified temperature of 90 ~ 170℃, the acetylene is passed into the reactor, bubbling, maintained for 2-8h, cooling, gas stop, discharge. After simple distillation, pure N-vinylcaprolactam is obtained by distillation.
