Chemical properties:

1, 3-dibromopropane is colorless or light yellow liquid at room temperature and pressure. It is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, chloroform and benzene, but insoluble in water. The molecule contains one or two easily departing bromine atoms, which can undergo nucleophilic substitution reactions, such as reacting with ammonia to produce propylamine.

Production method:

It is obtained by the reaction of propylene glycol with bromohydroacid. Concentrated sulfuric acid and 1, 3-propanediol were first added to bromic hydroacid, and then concentrated sulfuric acid was slowly driped into the sand bath for 7h, and then the crude product was steamed out. The crude product was washed once with Chemicalbook, washed with 10% sodium thiosulfate solution 2-3 times, and washed twice with 10% sodium carbonate. The water layer was separated and dried with anhydrous calcium chloride. Regular pressure fractionation, collection of 159-168℃ fractions to obtain the finished product.
