Preparation:

2-(2-methoxyphenoxy) dimethyl malonate is prepared as follows: 2-methoxyphenol (100g, 805.54mmol) is dissolved in toluene (700ml) and sodium hydroxide (33.83g, 845.75mmol) is added at 20-30℃. The reaction material is heated to reflux temperature and azeotrope separated water. Thereafter, dimethyl chloride malonate (147.6g, 886.16mmol) was added at 60-65℃ for 30 min and heated to reflux temperature and stirred for 3 h. The reaction substance was cooled to room temperature, washed with DM water, then washed with 1% w/v sodium hydroxide aqueous solution and concentrated to obtain 195g title compound 2-(2-methoxyphenoxy) dimethyl malonate.
