About: 

Humolsalate (Homosalate), also known as the original membrane bulk ester, is a typical salicylic acid ultraviolet absorber, chemical name 3, 3, 5-trimethylcyclohexyl salicylate, can absorb UVB295 ~ 315nm band of ultraviolet light, by the United States FDA, Europe, Japan, Australia approved for sunscreen daily chemicals, Protect the skin from UVB radiation damage, widely used in sunscreen, toner and other cosmetics and clothing fabrics. 

Preparation: 

10.0g methyl salicylate and 14.0g 3, 3, 5-trimethylcyclohexanol were added into 250ml three-mouth bottle, mixed evenly, 5.0g potassium carbonate was added, and the reaction was heated to 120-130℃ for 10h. The conversion rate of methyl salicylate was 85.6%. Colorless and transparent humolsalate 12.2g was obtained by vacuum distillation with yield of 70.8% and GC purity greater than 99%.
