Applications: Benzimidazole compounds are widely used in the fields of pesticides, medicine and materials. Moreover, its special imidazole structure plays an important role in the research of various drugs, especially in the development of PARP inhibitors.

Chemical properties: Benzimidazole is flake crystal, m.p.170℃, soluble in water and ethanol.

Usage:

1. Benzimidazole can be used to prepare imidazole, imidazole and other intermediates of fungicide.

2. Intermediates of organic synthesis. Reagent for the determination of cobalt.

3. Used for the synthesis of vitamin B12 and other drugs and preparation of polymer compounds.

4. Pesticide intermediate: fungicide intermediate: triazole fungicide.

Production method: 1. It is obtained by the cyclic combination of o-phenylenediamine and formic acid. The mixture of o-phenylenediamine and formic acid is heated in a water bath for 2h, cooled, the pH is adjusted to 10 with 10% sodium hydroxide solution, the precipitated solid is filtered out, and the coarse product is washed with cold water. The crude product is boiled slightly with water, decolorized with activated carbon, filtered while hot, the filtrate is cooled to room temperature, filtered, washed in cold water, and dried at 100℃ to get the finished product. The yield of crude product is 90%.

2. The preparation method is to add the crushed o-phenylenediamine into the reactor, and then pump the formic acid into the reactor, keep the reaction temperature 95 ~ 98℃ for 2 hours, cool the crystallization, and then neutralize with 10% NaOH to slightly alkaline, cool and filter, wash with water, dry to obtain benzimidazole.
